Athens – Thessaloniki

Departure in the morning for Thessaloniki with stops for coffee at Lamia and as we cross the valley of Tempe stop for pilgrimage to Saint Paraskevi. Pilgrimage to Saint Dionysios of Olympus and meal at Litochoro. Stop for coffee en route to Katerini. Arrival in Thessaloniki. Settle in the hotel. Dinner. Overnight.

Cave of Petralona

Petralona – Ouranoupolis

Breakfast and brief acquaintance with the nymph of Thermaikos. Pilgrimage to St. Demetrios, patron of the city. We will see the Arch of Galerius, the Rotonda, the White Tower. We continue to visit the cave of Petralona. Here is exposed the human skull, 700.000 b.C, believed to be the HOMO ERECTUS. We continue passing by Arnea and Ieriso and reach Ouranoupolis. Stay for lunch. Optional boat ride to the monasteries of Mount Athos. Back to Thessaloniki.

Sithonia Peninsula

Breakfast and day trip to the magical Sithonia peninsula with its picturesque fishing villages and the lush green hillsides. Porto Carras, Poligiros, Gerakini, Nikitis, Neos Marmaras, Kalamitsi, Sarti, Vourvourou, Ormos Panagias, Ormylia beach will relax our eyes and enchant us the emerald waters of the Gulf of Kassandra and the Gulf of Mount Athos. Stay for coffee and lunch. Back at the hotel.

Breakfast and departure for Nea Kallikratteia, Nea Plagia, Nea Moudania. Stop for photos at the Isthmus. Nea Potidaia, Nea Phocaia, Paliouri, Agia Paraskevi, Poseidi, Kassandreia. Stop and stay for dinner. Back to the hotel early in the afternoon.

Vergina – Athens

Breakfast and visit to the Museum – Tomb of Vergina with the astonishing findings of King Philip of Macedonia. The golden Larnaca with the unique gold-weave material, the chest shield, statuettes of ivory Philip and Great Alexander. We’ll be surprised by the goldsmiths works, crowns with branches and leaves by oak and myrtle, myrtle flowers with bees etc. Lunch en route and through Tempi and Lamia return to Athens.
