3 Days Route in Mount Parnon

Mount Parnon is one of the biggest mountain ranges of Greece, known for its rich biodiversity and stunning views. It offers beautiful trails for beginners and experienced hikers, as well as impressive gorges, unique caves and a vast array of flora and fauna.
Visitors from all over the world come to Mount Parnon to explore its natural beauty and learn its important cultural heritage, which is captured to its well-preserved monasteries that are scattered throughout the region.

Monastery of Saint Kyriaki
We’ll start our day with breakfast in Athens before heading towards the Isthmus of Corinth, where we’ll pause briefly to admire the canal that connects the Saronic Gulf with the Gulf of Corinth. From there, we’ll continue our journey to the charming village of Vamvakou, situated at an elevation of 900 meters on the slopes of Mount Parnon.
Once we arrive in Vamvakou, we’ll embark on a scenic hike to the stunning Saint Kyriaki monastery. The hike is estimated to take between 3-4 hours, depending on the pace of the group, and will offer breathtaking views of the surrounding mountainous landscape.
As we make our way along the trail, we’ll have the opportunity to appreciate the natural beauty of the area and learn about the history and culture of the region from our knowledgeable guide. Finally, we’ll arrive at the Saint Kyriaki monastery, a beautiful example of Byzantine architecture nestled amidst the picturesque landscape. Here, we’ll have a chance to explore the monastery and its grounds before making our way back to Vamvakou for a small meal and/or a coffee.


Explore the glorious past
Next, we’ll continue our trip to Karies, where we’ll visit the Caryatids Monument and the ancient Platanus trees, which according to history, were planted by Menelaos. These landmarks are rich in history and offer a glimpse into the cultural heritage of the region.
Afterwards, we’ll depart for Agios Ioannis, a quaint village nestled in the foothills of Mount Parnon, with charming architecture and plenty of opportunities to relax and unwind. We’ll enjoy a delicious meal and a good night’s rest before continuing our journey in the morning.
Monastery of Panagia Malevi
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we’ll begin our hike from Agios Ioannis to the historic Holy Monastery of Panagia Malevi. The route is of medium difficulty and expected to take approximately 3-4 hours.
Upon arrival at the Malevi Monastery, we’ll have the opportunity to explore the beautiful grounds and admire the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary, painted by Luke the Evangelist.


Monastery of John the Baptist
Following our visit to the Malevi Monastery, we’ll make our way to the picturesque village of Agios Petros for a leisurely lunch and/or coffee. This charming village is the perfect spot to relax and take in the beautiful scenery of the region.
After our break in Agios Petros, we’ll continue our journey to the Monastery of John the Baptist, a stunning religious site built on a rock that dates back to the 10th or 11th century.Finally, we’ll return to our hotel in Agios Ioannis, where we can relax and unwind after a day of exploration and adventure.
Monastery of Loukou
After a satisfying breakfast at our hotel, we’ll depart for the ancient city of Elliniko, a remarkable site of rich history. Here, we’ll explore the fascinating remains of houses and the impressive ruins of the Temple of Apollo, one of the most important sanctuaries in ancient Greece.
Next, we’ll embark on a scenic hike to the Loukous Monastery, located in the heart of the beautiful Kynouria region. This historic monastery is renowned for its stunning architecture, beautiful gardens, and rich religious traditions. As a way to relax, we’ll make our way to the lovely Astros beach for a light lunch and/or coffee.If the group is feeling energized and up for more exploration, we’ll visit the medieval castle of Astros, which in ancient times served as a strong defensive fortress.
As the afternoon draws to a close, we’ll depart for Athens, feeling enriched by our experiences and adventures in this beautiful region of Greece.
