We begin our third day with breakfast before embarking on a cultural journey in Tbilisi. We visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral (Sameba), an architectural marvel and the largest Orthodox cathedral in Georgia. We admire its stunning design and relish panoramic views of Tbilisi from the cathedral’s elevated perch. We continue ou exploration to the historic Metekhi Church, situated along the banks of the Mtkvari River. Our pilgrimage expert will explain its rich history as we take in the picturesque surroundings. For a unique perspective, hop on a cable car to Narikala Fortress, an ancient symbol of Tbilisi. Enjoy breathtaking views of the city and visit the nearby St. Nicholas Church for a prayerful reflection. We conclude the morning adventure with a traditional Georgian lunch at a local restaurant.

Following a delightful lunch, we delve deeper into Tbilisi’s religious heritage. We visit Sioni Cathedral, a prominent religious site adorned with beautiful frescoes and icons. Proceed to Anchiskhati Basilica, the oldest surviving church in Tbilisi, dating back to the 6th century. Take a leisurely stroll through the narrow streets of the Old Town, where various small churches and religious monuments dot the landscape, and engage in a silent worship along the way. In the evening, we savor a delightful dinner at a Traditional Restaurant accompanied by captivating Georgian dances and songs, immersing ourselves in the rich cultural tapestry of Georgia.

On the fourth day, after a delightful breakfast, we head for the Tbilisi History Museum, nestled within the historic Caravanserai building. The rich narrative of the city fascinates every traveller through captivating exhibits and artifacts that tell the story of Tbilisi. We are also going to visit the Georgian National Museum, a treasure trove of Georgian art, archaeology, and ethnography, to uncover the layers of history that have shaped the nation. Next, we are going to fuel up with a lunch for our afternoon walk.

Our cultural odyssey resumes at the Simon Janashia Museum of Georgia, an institution adjacent to the Georgian National Gallery. Delve into Georgia’s archaeological and historical richness, gaining a deeper understanding of its fascinating past through a curated collection of artifacts. As the afternoon unfolds, we embark on a scenic boat ride along the Mtkvari River.
Morning Pilgrimage to Mtskheta’s Spiritual Icons
Our journey of the fifth day begins with a visit to Mtskheta, a spiritual hub near Tbilisi. On the sixth day we embark on a day of cultural immersion and spiritual discovery with an early breakfast. The day’s spiritual journey begins at Alaverdi Monastery, a testament to Georgian history dating back to the 6th century. Wander through its hallowed halls, explore the wine cellar, and find solace in the monastery’s serene garden. If timing aligns, we partake in a prayer service, absorbing the spiritual energy that permeates the ancient grounds. From Alaverdi, the journey unfolds to Ikalto Monastery, an educational and cultural beacon in the 6th century. Roam through the echoes of history in the ruins of the Academy and the Church of the Transfiguration. A pause for lunch at a local restaurant introduces you to the gastronomic delights of the region.


As the day progresses, we venture to the Shuamta Monastic Complex, an ensemble of three monasteries—Dzveli (Old) Shuamta, Akhali (New) Shuamta, and Dziragebi. These sacred spaces offer tranquility for reflection and prayer. In Kvareli, discover “Meghineoba Khareba,” a wine cellar seamlessly carved into the rock. Our final day begins with a visit at Bodbe Monastery, a place of religious significance adorned with architectural elegance. We then venture southeast to the David Gareja Monastery Complex, situated about 60 kilometers from Tbilisi. This unique ensemble of cave monasteries is intricately carved into the rocky hills of a semi-desert landscape, presenting a site of profound spiritual and historical importance. Marvel at the breathtaking views that accompany this remarkable testament to faith and history.
Dusk Descends on Tbilisi
We recharge with a sumptuous lunch at a local restaurant and then make your way back to Tbilisi, where free time awaits for personal exploration or a leisurely walking tour, a perfect conclusion to our final day in the religious part of Georgia. The next day we depart early for Tbilisi International Airpot.
