Athens – Serres
Departure in the morning with stops for coffee at Lamia and as we cross the Tempi stop on a pilgrimage in Saint Paraskevi. Lunch en route. Arrival in Serres.
Roupel Fortress – Petrichi – Kerkini Lake
After breakfast visiting to the historic Fort Roupel at Promachonas, at our border with Bulgaria. Will visit the fort and will be guided to the importance of the fort in the First and the Second World War. In Petrichi and beside the river Strymon will visit the Municipal Aquarium of Vyroneia. We will admire freshwater fishes and species of fishes that living in the lake Kerkini and Strymon river. Besides the fish will see rare species of reptiles living in our country and beyond. We continue to the green village with running waters Ano Poroia overlooking Lake Kerkini. Back at the hotel. Dinner. Overnight.
Lake Doiranis – Cave Agiou Georgiou Kilkis
After breakfast we will know the Doirani Lake in the north borders of our country. 1/3 of this lake belongs to our country. Visit to the Museum on the shore of the lake. Free time for photos and walk next to the shore with the clear water. We continue to Cave Kilkis (individual costs). A cave that was discovered by chance in 1925 and after recovery in 1986 is open to the public. It is unique for the system slots – discontinuities that presented. They also found 300 specimens of fossilized animal bones in good condition. Wild ox, bantam and big horse, giant deer, fox, weasel, dot hyena and teeth belonging to rodents. Back at our hotel.
Serres – Thessaloniki – Athens
Departure for Ano Poli of Thessaloniki, Eptapyrgio. Free time and pilgrimage to the Patron of the city St. Demetrius and the White Tower, the tourist symbol of the city, with stops for coffee and lunch return to Athens.
